A jackpot of R91 million will be up for grabs in Friday’s PowerBall and PowerBall Plus draws, after Tuesday’s draws produced no winners. This marks the ninth consecutive rollover since a R179-million jackpot was won in January, significantly boosting the potential payouts.
The PowerBall jackpot currently stands at R61 million, while the PowerBall Plus draw offers R30 million. A standard PowerBall ticket costs R5, with an additional R2.50 for PowerBall Plus, totaling R7.50. Players have a 1 in 42,391,200 chance of winning the PowerBall jackpot, with the average payout being R22 million, making this upcoming draw considerably larger than usual.
Tuesday’s PowerBall numbers were 19, 23, 33, 34, and 41, with the PowerBall number being 09. The PowerBall Plus numbers were 09, 14, 39, 41, and 48, with a PowerBall number of 10.
According to ITHUBA, the operator of the National Lottery, the last two PowerBall jackpot winners utilized the Quick Pick option through a banking application. Tickets are available for purchase until 20:30 on Friday, February 27, 2026, with the official draw scheduled for 21:00. Tickets can be purchased via the National Lottery website, the Mobile App, or at participating retailers.
Prizes can be claimed according to the following tiers: retail stores pay out up to R2,000; winnings between R10,000 and R49,999 must be claimed at an Approved Prize Payment Centre (APPC); winnings between R49,999 and R249,999 can be claimed via EFT from participating banks (excluding African Bank, which has a limit of R49,999); and winnings exceeding R250,000 require an in-person visit to an ITHUBA office.
To claim winnings, individuals must possess a valid winning ticket, be 18 years of age or older, present a valid proof of identity, and have a South African bank account that is no more than three months old. Winnings must be claimed within 365 days of the draw date.
Another lottery draw, the ‘budget speech’ Lotto and Lotto Plus 1 and 2, offers a combined jackpot of R49 million. A ticket for this draw costs R10, and the odds of winning the jackpot are slightly better at 1 in 40,491,358. The average jackpot payout for this draw is R5.95 million, nearly ten times the average.
In February 2019, a R232-million jackpot was awarded, representing the highest payout in South African lottery history. More recently, following 24 consecutive draws without a winner, a R179-million PowerBall jackpot was won by a young couple.
