On the issue of demarcating the maritime borders, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants affirmed Lebanon’s unified position, especially the 23rd line and the Qana field, noting that negotiations are continuing, waiting for Lebanon to be informed of the Israeli position on the American mediator, Amos Hochstein, whose upcoming visit to Beirut has not yet been set.
With regard to the issue of the displaced Syrians, Minister Bouhabib affirmed the unity of the Lebanese position, and a ministerial committee has been set up to follow up on this file. Bouhabib touched on the recent Brussels 6 meeting, where Lebanon requested the European Union’s assistance in returning the displaced Syrians to their country and set a gradual road map in cooperation with Lebanon that would organize this return. Bouhabib indicated that the Arab countries supported the Lebanese position, unlike some influential European countries that still oppose and demand the integration of the displaced Syrians into the Lebanese society.
