The series of murders continues in Senegal. Every day with its share of deaths. After Pikine, it is the turn of Tivaouane Fulani to be the scene of an atrocious murder. The incident allegedly happened around 7 p.m. yesterday. Indeed, because of a debt he came to claim, Pape Mbaye was stabbed to death. His alleged murderer, a man named Khadim, was arrested. We will come back to it.

France not ready for big events, deplore Le Pen and Mélenchon
“Feeling of humiliation”, “complete failure of the police strategy”: Marine Le Pen and Jean-Luc Mélenchon both estimated on Sunday that France was not “capable” of organizing large demonstrations, following the scenes of chaos that punctuated the Champions League final at the Stade de France.
Questioned by the RTL-Le Figaro-LCI Grand Jury, the leader of the National Rally expressed a “feeling of humiliation because we are watched by the whole world and all the capitals who have seen this have noted that the France was no longer in the capacity to organize large demonstrations without them degenerating”.
“It’s confirmation that our state is collapsing under our feet. The reality is that. It’s that we no longer know how to organize a big event even though there are the Olympic Games in 18 months, which is extremely worrying,” added the presidential finalist, denouncing the “incompetence” of Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin and Paris police chief Didier Lallement.
Same observation with the leader of La France insoumise: “The image is lamentable, it is worrying because we can clearly see that we are not prepared for events like the Olympic Games, launched Jean-Luc Mélenchon on BFMTV .
“It’s a complete failure of police strategy,” he said. “There must be a fundamental reflection to put the French police back in a device that makes it effective” because “the role of the police is to prevent things from going wrong, but there, on the contrary, they have aggravated things,” said Mr. Mélenchon.
The match at the top of European football, which saw Real Madrid win once morest Liverpool (1-0), started with a delay of more than 30 minutes due to scenes of chaos outside the stadium, due to the influx of tens of thousands of supporters and intrusion attempts.
The two politicians differ on the origin of the slippages, Ms. Le Pen believing that the department of Seine-Saint-Denis, where the Stade de France is located, was “out of control”.
This degenerated “partly by a disorganization for which the organizers will have to explain themselves, and then partly by a traditional delinquency” which means that “at each event it turns into a riot, an attempt at looting”.
Jean-Luc Mélenchon mocked the side of the extreme right “the usual racist refrain”.
“The problem last night was the doctrine for the use of law enforcement,” he insisted.
the president recognizes the “obsolescence” of the health system

Two days following the tragedy that claimed the lives of eleven babies during a fire in a hospital in Tivaouane, the President of Senegal, Macky Sall, visited the site and recognized the “obsolescence” of the health system. from his country.
The Senegalese President Macky Sall recognized, Friday, May 27, the “obsolescence” of Senegal’s health system and ordered an audit of neonatal services, so that the public hospital is “no longer a space of tragedy”, following the death of eleven babies in a fire.
The Head of State made these statements to the press following going to the public hospital in Tivaouane at the end of the day on Friday, where these eleven babies died on Wednesday evening, a new tragedy which caused grief and indignation in the country.
Visibly moved, Macky Sall said he was “heartbroken” following visiting the room where the babies lost their lives.

“I have ordered that all neonatal services be audited in their facilities […] and equipment. The health system is marked by obsolescence,” he said. “We will continue this modernization effort to see what is wrong. [afin que l’hôpital ne soit] no longer a space of despair or tragedy.”
“I would like to call for responsibility and awareness so that everyone exercises their profession […] with ethics”, launched the president, who said he had ordered a mission from the General State Inspectorate “to look at the quality of the infrastructures”.
Before going to the hospital, Macky Sall had met the caliph of the Tidianes – one of the important Muslim brotherhoods which play an essential social role in Senegal – Serigne Babacar Sy Mansour, who had deplored several months ago the state of this hospital. The president specified that he would meet in the evening the families of the missing babies at the residence of the caliph.
A series of dramas
This drama is the latest to highlight the shortcomings of the health system of this poor country. Macky Sall sacked Thursday evening his Minister of Health, Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr, targeted by calls for the resignation. He also decreed three days of national mourning. President-in-Office of the African Union, he cut short his stay in Equatorial Guinea to go to Tivaouane.
What happened on Wednesday evening at the Mame Abdou Aziz Sy Dabakh hospital remains to be established. The testimonies report a fire spreading rapidly in the neonatal unit and helpless staff and users to save the children. An electrical short circuit is incriminated.
Accusations of negligence flew. But the mayor of the city assured that two caregivers were in the service at the time of the events. The new neonatology service, co-financed by a private company, was delivered at the end of 2021, with safety equipment and staff training in fire alerts, he said.

But, in one year, it is at least the third event with death of children in the public hospital. Apart from calls for sanctions, this tragedy has aroused in part of the opinion accusations of passivity on the part of the authorities.
The Senegalese had already been moved by the death of four newborns in the fire of a neonatology department at Linguère hospital in April 2021, and the tragic fate of a pregnant woman, Astou Sokhna, who died with her baby a year later following what his relatives describe as a long agony and denial of care at Louga hospital.
His fate was “the straw that broke the camel’s back,” Nina Penda Faye, spokeswoman for Patients in Danger, told AFP. The collective, which was formed a few weeks ago following the death of Astou Sokhna, received in 72 hours at least 500 testimonies from Senegalese on medical errors or cases of abuse.
