All teams except Haas F1 have prepared major updates for the Spanish Grand Prix – and in the first session focused on evaluating their effectiveness. cars drove out with aerodynamic paint and pressure gauges.
At Formula 3, Formula 2 and W Series training, the asphalt was covered with used rubber, the grip was good, the weather was favorable. The stands were already full on Friday – in Spain they missed Formula 1.
For the first time this season, temporary substitutions took place in three teams at once. Formula E champion Nick de Vries took the wheel of Alex Albon’s car at Williams, Youri Vips replaced Sergio Perez at Red Bull Racing, and Robert Kubica replaced Guanyu Zhou at Alfa Romeo. In the second session, the main pilots will return to the wheel.
Vettel, Bottas and Magnussen returned to the pits following the first laps and handed over the car to the mechanics, but then left once more. Esteban Ocon complained of steering problems, breaking a series of laps and wasting ten minutes. DRS was not working correctly on Hamilton’s car.
Charles Leclerc took the lead with a lap time of 1:19.828. To the delight of the fans, both Spanish riders finished the session in the top five.

The stewards of the Miami Grand Prix considered the collision of Fernando Alonso and Pierre Gasly during the race in Miami and punished the Alpine rider. Fernando received a five-second penalty, and following applying it, he dropped from eighth to ninth place in the race protocol.
In addition to losing time, Alonso received two penalty points. Now on account of the Spanish racer four penalty points for a 12-month period.
Five seconds and one penalty point was given to Daniel Riccardo. The McLaren driver went off the track in turn 12 and, due to the advantage gained, overtook Kevin Magnussen.
After applying the penalty, Daniel dropped in the race protocol from eleventh to thirteenth place. Riccardo now has two demerit points in a 12-month period.
Five seconds and two penalties were given to Kevin Magnussen for colliding with Lance Stroll in turn 11. The Haas driver dropped to sixteenth on the race record. For him, this is the first penalty points in 12 months.
The testing time at the Miami Grand Prix is over, everyone is already looking at the classification of this new event. In the three hours that were given to test and adapt to this recently opened track, no one has been safe from making mistakes, some were able to save the touch with the protections. However, others like Bottas, Sainz or Ocon did not have the same fate. We will see how they manage the situation when the need to find a good time in qualifying makes them rush every millimeter of the track, taking risks on this complicated track where grip can also play tricks on them.
