Olympique de Marseille ended the group stage of the Europa League with an almost one-sided final, unfortunately to their disadvantage. While the club only needed a draw to claim first place, they delivered a lackluster performance on the Brighton pitch, who did not steal their victory despite often vain domination. The English confiscated the ball for a long time and Gennaro Gattuso’s men ended up accepting this idea of defending, helped indirectly by a team not always inspired in the last gesture. In terms of pressing and keeping the ball, everything was a little too complicated for the Phocaeans.

This is his first public speech since the OL bus was stoned in Marseille on October 29. The Italian coach of Olympique Lyonnais Fabio Grosso, seriously injured in the face on Sunday, called on Friday November 3 for “important decisions” in order to guarantee everyone’s safety.
“We should not wait for something even more serious to make important decisions,” said the Italian during his first press conference since the incidents which led to the cancellation of the match.
“I want security for everyone”
“There was something unacceptable and we cannot move past it,” he insisted, his left eye still swollen and part of his injuries hidden by a cap pulled down on his head. “It’s getting better, it must be getting better,” he nevertheless clarified.
“I want security for everyone,” he insisted. “We cannot put people’s lives at risk for sport.”
Grosso also “condemned”, as his club had already done, the attitude of certain Lyon supporters inside the Vélodrome who made Nazi salutes and uttered monkey cries in the direction of the Marseillais. It is a “not beautiful thing” which must not happen once more, he judged.
The Marseille-Lyon match has been rescheduled for December 6 by the Professional Football League (LFP), which has not yet specified where it will be played.
For the Lyon coach, the time has now come for the Lyon-Metz match on Sunday, counting for the 11th day of the championship with OL, last in L1, the absolute necessity of winning for the first time this season.
“At the start of the week, I came but without managing the training, but my assistants worked well. I was a little weak physically but inside myself, I am a volcano all the time. I I want to do good sporting things with this club,” he concluded.

PSG’s Winning Streak Continues: Analysis and Coach’s Insights on the 3-0 Victory over Montpellier
2023-11-04 01:43:20
Luis Enrique might have a smile on Friday evening, following PSG-Montpellier. FRANCK FIFE / AFP
The Parisian coach delivers his analysis following the 3-0 victory over Montpellier on Friday, at the Parc des Princes, at the opening of the 11th day of the French championship.
PSG launched with this series of five victories : «That’s what all coaches want, we always aim for the best results, while having our own style of play. I’m obviously happy. What I see is positive. The objective is to continue to be efficient and to further increase our level of performance.»
The contents : «I am very satisfied. Montpellier was the best team we faced at the Parc des Princes since the start of the season. I really liked the way they played. It was hard to take the ball from them. They have different ways of playing. Short game, long game, short or long combination… It was difficult when they attacked in spaces. It was complicated in the first half, but we scored on our first opportunity, we were calmer. And in the second half, we did very well. If we had slowed down, it might have become complicated.»
Randal Kolo Muani and the competition ahead : «He had a key role in all matches, and the same goes for Gonçalo Ramos and Marco Asensio. I am happy with these players. Randal is a very versatile player, brilliant technically and physically. They all have a great mentality. And I’m happy with the players I have in front.»

The team’s attitude is at the top level in all matches.

The right corridor Dembélé/Hakimi : «What instructions? Everyone has the same ones. We have to do everything possible offensively and defensively. This is what we have been doing since the start of the season. There are areas to improve, but the team’s attitude is at the top level in all matches, in Ligue 1 and in the Champions League. Ousmane Dembélé and Achraf Hakimi are doing very well.»
Kang-in Lee : «Satisfied ? Yes. Kang-in Lee has played in Spain for a long time. We’ve known him for a while. He’s a great signing from Luis Campos and the club and I’m lucky to have joined the club while he was already here. He is a player that all supporters can love. He is young, he has a lot of quality, desire, he spares no effort in attack or defense… He does not lose the ball under pressure. He makes good decisions. He can score, as we saw tonight, and he is hungry. Hunger is very important for a player to progress. Another very good player in our squad.»
The Parisians are clearly having fun on the pitch : «The fruit of five victories in a row or of a better understanding over the weeks? Both ! It goes together. If you don’t have results, it’s harder to progress. The results generate the confidence of the players and the team. It’s great to see the supporters appreciate the victories of course, but also when we recover the balls in the opponent’s half, when we press the opponent. They were also impressed by Ousmane Dembélé who came to collect balls. Making an assist is like making an assist for Manuel Ugarte. It’s important that every player on the team knows that they have to defend and be a full member of the team. We need 11 complete players on the pitch to have a complete team. And that’s what all the supporters like. I am happy regarding all this.»
