Orlando City SC has secured midfielder Eduard Atuesta with a recent contract extending through the 2028-29 Major League Soccer season, with a club option for 2029-30, the club announced Thursday.
The 28-year-old Colombian international joined Orlando City ahead of the 2025 MLS season from Brazilian Série A side Palmeiras. In 33 appearances across all competitions during the 2025 campaign, Atuesta recorded seven assists.
“This represents an important move for our club as we continue shaping a squad built for sustained success,” said Orlando City SC General Manager and Sporting Director Ricardo Moreira. “Eduard brings a level of intelligence, composure and leadership that defines how we want to play. His professionalism and influence on the group, both tactically and in the locker room, have been exceptional. We’re proud of the impact he’s made here in Orlando, and we look forward to him continuing to anchor our midfield for years to come.”
Atuesta’s career includes previous stints in Major League Soccer with Los Angeles FC, where he accumulated 11 goals and 36 assists in 152 appearances (134 starts) across multiple seasons. He initially arrived at LAFC on loan from Independiente Medellín in 2018 before making the move permanent. He later joined Palmeiras, winning multiple trophies with the Brazilian club, including the 2022 and 2023 Brazilian league titles, the 2023 Supercopa do Brasil and the 2022 Recopa Sudamericana.
Prior to joining Orlando City, Atuesta had appeared in 259 professional matches, scoring 15 goals and adding 32 assists in over 16,000 minutes played. He has also earned two senior caps for the Colombian national team.
Orlando City’s 2026 season begins February 21st with a home match against Red Bull New York, scheduled for a 7:30 pm ET kickoff and broadcast on Apple TV.
