ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech women’s tennis team will add two non-conference matches to their spring 2026 schedule, head coach Rodney Harmon announced Monday. The Yellow Jackets will host Penn State on Sunday, March 22, at noon at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex, and will travel to Kennesaw State on Wednesday, March 25, for a 1 p.m. Contest.
The match against Penn State will mark the first-ever meeting between the two programs. Three days later, Georgia Tech will face Kennesaw State for the seventh time in program history, holding a 6-0 advantage in the all-time series. These two matches will conclude the Yellow Jackets’ non-conference portion of their schedule as they prepare for Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play.
Georgia Tech will return to ACC action shortly after, beginning with a Friday matchup at Stanford with a 4:30 p.m. ET first serve. Before heading to California, the Jackets will host Louisville at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex on Friday, February 27. Admission to all 2026 Georgia Tech women’s tennis matches is free.
The addition of these matches provides valuable competition for the Yellow Jackets as they build towards the ACC season. The team will look to continue its strong performance against non-conference opponents before facing the challenges of the highly competitive ACC. First-Time Matchup with Penn State
The upcoming match against Penn State represents a new challenge for the Georgia Tech women’s tennis program. The contest, scheduled for March 22 at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex, will be the first in the history of the two universities. This provides an opportunity for the Yellow Jackets to showcase their skills against a Big Ten opponent and expand their competitive experience.
Continuing Dominance Over Kennesaw State
Georgia Tech has consistently found success against Kennesaw State, boasting a perfect 6-0 record in their previous six meetings. The March 25th match will be the first played at Kennesaw State, offering a change of scenery for the Yellow Jackets. The team will aim to maintain its winning streak against the Owls and build momentum heading into the ACC schedule.
Full Steam Ahead: Investing in Georgia Tech Athletics
These matches are played against the backdrop of Georgia Tech Athletics’ ambitious “Full Steam Ahead” fundraising initiative. This $500 million project aims to elevate the program’s ability to compete for championships at the highest level. The initiative will fund renovations to key athletic facilities, including Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field, the Zelnak Basketball Center, and O’Keefe Gymnasium. More information about the initiative, including renderings of the planned renovations, can be found at atfund.org/FullSteamAhead.
The Yellow Jackets will look to build on their non-conference success as they prepare for the challenges of the ACC season. The team’s next confirmed match is against Louisville on February 27th, followed by a trip to Stanford on March 27th. The addition of Penn State and Kennesaw State to the schedule provides valuable opportunities for growth and preparation as the team strives for success in the competitive landscape of collegiate tennis.
