From a small garden centre in Kilquade, County Wicklow, to a 60,000-square-foot showroom in Glen of the Downs, Outdoor Living is marking its 20th year in business, transforming how Irish households approach outdoor spaces.
Founded in 2006 by Pat and Damien Kelly, the company began with 5,000 square feet of display space before relocating to its current, larger site – the oldest continually running garden centre in Ireland – in the Glen of the Downs. The business now showcases over 300 garden furniture sets, alongside barbecues, outdoor structures and artificial grass.
Outdoor Living’s origins trace back to a family-run operation, with the Kelly family having nurtured the business over three generations. The company’s early days involved assembling cast aluminium furniture piece by piece, a task initially undertaken by Iggy, who joined the team in 2007. In those initial years, the business operated from Kilquade with a small team of just six people.
The Glen of the Downs showroom spans over 55,000 sq. Ft, and the company now operates a second location in Dunboyne, County Meath. OutdoorLiving.ie prides itself on offering furniture designed to withstand the Irish climate.
The company’s growth reflects a broader trend in Ireland towards enhancing outdoor living areas, offering products ranging from dining sets and hanging chairs to composite decking and wall cladding. Outdoor Living also offers a dedicated BBQ centre and a range of pergolas, greenhouses, and garden rooms.
According to the company, its success is rooted in expert advice and genuine customer support. The team covers areas including garden structures, BBQs, greenhouses, and garden accessories.
Outdoor Living currently has over 900 followers on LinkedIn, and continues to expand its product ranges, including ModPod Pavilions.
