Taibah University achieved first place among Saudi universities in the Mental Health Promotion Initiative, which is supervised by the National Center for Mental Health Promotion, with 148 activities during the last academic year in the field of mental health.
Dr. Raafat Shakdar, Chairman of the Permanent Committee for the Promotion of Mental Health at Taibah University, said: We worked at the university through 6 axes identified by the initiative to promote mental health in Saudi universities, which included building a balanced personality for university students, promoting mental health concepts, an axis for student care, and community initiatives in the field of mental health and scientific and research activity. He referred to the implementation of 148 different activities that targeted the declared axes, and they were achieved with all professionalism and with an implementation rate that reached 100% of the initiative’s goals.
Dr. Shakdar praised the efforts of the National Center for the Promotion of Mental Health and its interest in educational institutions as one of the institutions that most contribute to shaping awareness and changing behavior, especially in universities, due to the large size of the youth segment they belong to, the diversity of their characteristics, and the role that universities play in building their personalities.
