Taichung reported 7,140 new local confirmed cases today (23rd). Among them, there was a cluster infection of 48 patients and 4 nursing staff in a psychiatric ward of a hospital.
Taichung City Health Director Zeng Zizhan said, “In a hospital in Taichung, they reported on May 20 that there were many patients in their psychiatric ward who showed symptoms of fever and respiratory tract, and they were suspected of clustering. Our investigation has found that there are 65 medical staff in the hospital and 83 patients, all of whom have been tested by PCR, and a total of 148 people have been tested. Currently, 48 patients and 4 nursing staff have been diagnosed.”
Fortunately, so far, no severe cases have been reported. In addition to strict monitoring, the Health Bureau has also given hospital drugs to assist in treatment. This is also a large-scale cluster infection in a psychiatric ward of a hospital after the outbreak of a cluster infection in a psychiatric hospital in Shengang District, Taichung City.
