WASHINGTON — Taiwan is arming itself with US help amid rising tensions with China. The island republic will buy up to 400 Harpoon missiles from the Americans, the Bloomberg news agency reported on Monday, citing people familiar with the matter. In early April, the US Department of Defense announced the sale of 400 of these anti-ship missiles for $1.17 billion (1.06 billion euros), without naming the buyer.
