The construction of a new chip factory in Dresden saw a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday. The €10 billion investment is a joint project between Taiwanese industrial giant TSMC and Bosch, Infineon and NXP Semiconductors, which already have their headquarters in Dresden. TSMC is supposed to hold 70% of the company, with the other partners each holding 10%. The factory is called European Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (ESMC).
