In this work, the main character, Aihara Ame (26), played by Nagano, is destined to give her heart for Taiyo Asano (28), a man with whom she once had a heart-to-heart, played by Yamada. A fantasy love story brought about by a “harsh miracle” that begins with carrying someone on one’s back.
■Episode 4 synopsis
February 2016. Aihara Ame (Nagano), whose graduation ceremony is just around the corner, goes shopping with Taiyo Asano (Yamada) to a shopping center with a Ferris wheel in preparation to start living alone in Tokyo. When Taiyo learned that Ame would be coming to Tokyo the day after the graduation ceremony, he asked, “Do you want anything to commemorate your graduation?” When Taiyo graduates, Ame regrets not getting him the second button on his uniform, so she buys him a small bouquet of smelling Margaret flowers instead. Taiyo asked Rain to make the scent of this flower the “scent of memories” for the two of them.
January 2024. Taiyo confesses his feelings to Ame, but she refuses, saying, “There’s someone else I like,” so he returns home soaking wet. The fireworks craftsmen, including his younger sister Haruyo (Natsuki Deguchi) and Tatsuo Yanagita (Yukijiro Hotaru), who thought that his confession would be successful, were surprised to learn that Taiyo had been rejected.
Ame confides in city hall employee Tsukasa Mochida (Jun Shirasu) about her “miracle” that she has no sense of taste due to a rare disease that causes her to lose all five senses. Tsukasa asked, “Did you tell Taiyo about that?” Then Rain replies, “I don’t intend to say anything because I like Taiyo.”
One day, while Ame is watering the plants in the garden, her grandmother Yukino (Kimiko Yo) comes home from shopping. Rain notices Yukino rubbing her lower back in pain and calls out to her. Kusaka (Saito Takumi), who had seen her in the rain, suggests that he should tell Yukino about her five senses.
