Dinoy met Sachin Tendulkar at the Spice Coast Marathon on Sunday. Knowing that Dinoy, who underwent a heart transplant surgery years ago, was participating in the 5 km fun run along with the marathon, Sachin expressed his desire to see.
“When the mind follows the heart, beautiful things happen. Denoy Thomas, who underwent a heart transplant several years ago, successfully completed a 5 km marathon today in full health. It is very inspiring to see people like him. All the best to Dinoy” was Sachin’s tweet.
Nine years ago, Dinoy Thomas was treated by Dr. Jose Chacko Periyapuram led the heart transplant surgery. The heart of Libu, a native of Ayanthol, Thrissur, is now beating in Dinoi. Dino is able to support his family by working on his own from being unable to walk due to dilated cardiomyopathy. In September 2015, Kalamasery joined Toyota as a driver after undergoing a heart transplant. From Kannur to Thiruvananthapuram, large vehicles including Innova and Fortuner will drive by themselves.
After work which usually ends at 6 pm, auto rickshaws ply at Dinoi HMT Junction till 11 pm without wasting time. With the aim of promoting organ donation, the marathon was organized under the leadership of Heartcare Foundation with the participation of many people along with Dinoy Thomas. She participated in the marathon wearing a t-shirt that said ‘A new life is possible through organ donation’.
