I didn’t say it, can you hear me? Popular “masterpieces”
Tamori Club is a late-night program that began broadcasting in October 1982. MC Tamori is known for delving into the charm of maniac genres such as railways and topography with guests, enthusiasts and experts.
The corner that started in 1992 is “Soragami Hour,” which introduces the lyrics of Western music that sound like Japanese, accompanied by video. Together with illustrator Hajime Anzai, Tamori will evaluate the works sent by viewers, and present four levels of prizes according to their interest. It has been loved as a project that represents the program, such as the “Soragami Award” that decides the best work of the year is broadcast once a year.
In J-CAST News, we conducted a reader survey to ask “the most impressive ear ear” from some of the works that won the best prize “Jumper” in the past. From the ○○ votes collected from February 24, 2011 to March 1, 17:00, we will introduce the top 5 works here.
5th place is “That Wart Hemorrhoid That Wart Hemorrhoid Oh” (124 votes). It’s a haunting verse of “Pure Goddess” sung by Philippa Giordano, an Italian female singer.
In the video, the inside of a crowded route bus is set as the stage. When an old woman on her way home from an anal clinic stands, a young man sitting in her priority seat notices her and tries to give up her seat. But the old woman, who was suffering from her wart hemorrhoids, refused. Even so, when a young man who doesn’t know her circumstances forces her to sit down, her grandmother can’t stand her pain, and she unintentionally leaks out her voice, “Aaaah!” Broadcast in 2000, it was a work that left an impression on the story of the image.
4th place is “Agricultural Cooperative Milk” (185 votes). This is a passage from the song “Bat Dance” by American singer Prince. In the video, a square object appears from under the thick smoke. When the whole picture comes into view, it is revealed that the object is “agricultural cooperative milk”.
By the way, the original lyrics are “Don’t stop dancin'” which is not similar to “Nonghyup milk”. Although it was broadcast 30 years ago in 1993, it is still a representative work of Soragami Hour.
A shocking “phrase repetition” work…
3rd place is “Nugget splitting daddy (x 12) What’s going on!?” (220 votes). It’s the chorus phrase of the song “Killing in the Name” by the American rock band Rage Against the Machine.
In the video, a family appears around the dining table. A child hands a nugget to his father and asks him to break it in half. At first, the father had a dubious look on his face, but gradually he began to change his mind, and he cracked the nuggets rhythmically while making funny faces. After repeating the work many times, the mother sees the nuggets piled up on the plate and rages, “What are you doing!?”, and the video ends.
It was broadcast in 2015. It was a work with a strong impact, repeating the same phrase 12 times.
Second place was “Bread, tea, night duty” (246 votes). It’s the intro part of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal.” The video first closes up the bread placed in the kitchen. Next, we see a man carrying bread to the table and relaxing with a cup of tea. At this point, the camera was pulled out at once, revealing that this place was a resting place for the night duty.
Broadcast in 1994, it is a work that captures Michael Jackson’s famous songs in a novel way, and it seems to be very popular.
And the 1st place is “Western Pear Mukeyo (x7) Western Pear Muke!!” (288 votes). This is a line from the American rock band Nirvana’s song “School”.
A man with a PC in front of him challenges an online casino where a man with a knife on the screen bets on whether to peel an apple or a pear. The man who bet on “Pear” looks desperately at the man’s suggestive movements, whether it’s an apple or a pear. However, when the man starts peeling the apple, the man hits the PC on the floor and rages. It’s about exploding the cries of your hopeless heart after losing a bet.
The work is impressive with the gradually increasing volume of “Western nashimuke yo” and the final “Western nashimuke!” filled with the man’s anger. Broadcast in March 2021, it is the newest work among the works acquired by Jumper.
