“As a result of statements sent to the media by the representatives of the TAROM United Trade Union, regarding the salary situation in the company, we specify, first of all, that the average income of TAROM employees increased by over 18% in 2023, compared to the same period of last year, above the current rate of inflation. The TAROM company representatives maintain an open and honest dialogue with the representative unions. As a result of the first meeting the company management had with the union representatives (Thursday, July 27th), we conveyed that we are analyzing the opportunity of some future wage increases, only following the approval of the restructuring plan, on which the expected capital inflow and the financial stabilization of the company depend,” the statement states.

The company’s reaction comes following the TAROM United Trade Union (SUT) accused the management of treating with indifference the rights of the employees established by the contract.

With regard to the SUT accusation that, as of July 31, TAROM’s only employee with disabilities, a 29-year-old lady who is also the sole breadwinner, is fired, the representatives of the air operator explained that the position she holds this person is currently undergoing restructuring, as part of the plan that is meant to save and revitalize the company.

“Furthermore, the company offered the opportunity to the lady, precisely because it is a special situation, to occupy through the internal recruitment process several positions that remain in the organizational chart, including following the finalization of the restructuring process. We are trying to find, further , solutions”, they also declared.
