Brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate will remain detained in a federal facility in Miami following an eight-hour court hearing that concluded without a decision on their request for release on bail, according to reports from Diario Libre. U.S. District Judge Lauren Louis presided over the proceedings on Thursday, evaluating arguments regarding the extradition request submitted by the United Kingdom.
The influencers, who hold dual British and American citizenship, have been held at a federal detention center in Miami since July 18. British authorities are seeking their extradition to face nearly sixty charges, which include allegations of rape, human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and pornographic offenses.
Extradition Timeline and Legal Process
During Thursday’s marathon session, Judge Louis did not issue a ruling on the defense’s request to free the brothers while the international extradition case moves forward. At present, no date has been scheduled for a subsequent court hearing on the matter, according to Diario Libre.
The United Kingdom has until September 16 to submit the complete documentation supporting its extradition request to the Florida court.
Lawyers representing the Tate brothers have contested the conditions of their confinement while challenging the validity of the extradition push. Outside the courthouse, approximately thirty demonstrators gathered during the session to display banners and voice support for the influencers’ release.
