“Tatort”: Bourne as John Wayne and Columbo

The rich businesswoman and photographer Greta Exner (Cordeliawege) discovers that her much younger husband is cheating on her. As a fictional person, she sets a trap for him via online chat and learns that the bon vivant would like to get rid of her. The “Entrepreneur of the Year” begins to act. It is a depraved world in a luxury environment that is depicted in the “Tatort” episode “Borowski and the Revenant” (Sunday, ORF 2, ARD, 8:15 p.m.). The exaggerated characters and their outdated acting don’t always make it easy for the audience. The detectives Klaus Borowski (Axel Milberg) and Mila Sahin (Almila Bagriacik) form likeable counterparts to this almost cartoonish, not at all loving family. “When my mother didn’t understand something, she said, ‘That’s trollish,'” says Borowski, who can’t understand why press drones show up at the crime scene. Whereupon the inspector from Kiel can act like John Wayne for once. Another model for this crime thriller by Grimme Prize winners Sascha Arango (book) and Andreas Kleinert (director) is certainly the cunning gentleman in the trench coat from Los Angeles. With a feint à la Columbo, the bloody deed, regarding which there is no certainty for a long time, is finally clarified. Previously, Borowski seems to resign in the face of foolish superiors, saying “No result is a result”, whereupon “Tatort” seems to end early: perhaps the highlight of this episode, in which black holes and an (almost) mute servant were added. The latter is pretty trolly.
