Taxi fares are also increased to 5,000 won in calling charges. The era of basic taxi fares of 10,000 won

After the midnight taxi chasing riot and corona distance, it has become so difficult to catch a taxi in the city center late at night.

This is because taxi drivers left to the delivery and courier industries to make a living as the number of customers decreased during the corona period.

The government announced today a countermeasure to bring back taxi drivers who left.

It was also decided to abolish the system that raises the taxi fare up to KRW 5,000 and forces private taxis to take a day off every few days for the first time in 50 years.

As for other measures, reporter Hong Shin-young will tell you first.

When calling a taxi using a calling app between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m., the success rate is about once in five.

“I wish I could just get caught even if I paid extra money. It would be burdensome if the basic rate went up a bit more…”

After Corona, the number of corporate taxi drivers in Seoul decreased by 10,000, from 31,000 to 21,000.

This is because a large number of people left for higher-paying jobs such as delivery and courier services.

The government has announced measures to bring back the taxi drivers who have left.

First of all, it is decided to raise the taxi call fee from the current maximum of 3,000 won to 5,000 won within this month.

Calling rates are applied flexibly, for example, if you call from Gangnam Station in Seoul at 12:00 p.m., the highest rate is applied.

You can of course opt for a toll-free call as well.

However, if you pay the calling fee, the taxi driver cannot know the destination, or the affiliated taxis are forcibly dispatched.

This is to prevent call rejection.

“We monitor the implementation results so that there is no situation where only the fare rises and the public’s success rate does not change…”

It was also decided to remove the subtitle of forcing private taxis to rest.

Seoul has a three-part system of working two days and one day off, which disappeared almost 50 years after it was implemented during the 1973 oil crisis.

The government has also decided to introduce part-time work so that taxi drivers can only work late at night when they can make more money.

Following the call rate increase, the city of Seoul will increase the late-night surcharge time to 10:00 p.m. and raise both basic and surcharges, which is expected to increase the burden of taxi fares.
