TE Connectivity Inaugurates New Manufacturing Facility to Strengthen European, Middle Eastern, and African Markets

TE Connectivity, a global leader in connectors and sensors, organized a ceremony on Wednesday to celebrate the inauguration of a new facility on its campus within the Tanger Med industrial platform, with a view to strengthening its manufacturing capabilities in Europe , in the Middle East and Africa.

The factory will produce electrical components to meet customer needs in rapidly evolving industrial markets, such as electric vehicles, factory automation, as well as battery and energy storage systems, and lighting industrial, reports MAP.

Located within the Tanger Med industrial platform, this state-of-the-art facility, which covers 20,000 m2, will offer a wide range of capabilities, particularly in molding, overmolding, assembly, engineering design and project management.

The site will play a central role in the manufacturing of critical components for key product lines that enable the connection, identification and tracking of electrical components in industrial markets.

Speaking on this occasion, the chief of staff of the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Amine Belhaj Soulami, stressed that the presence of TE Connectivity in Morocco is a success story, noting that the expansion of its activities through a 4th investment is unequivocal proof of the success of the group’s establishment on Moroccan soil and a strong sign of the attractiveness of the Morocco destination.

Mr. Belhaj Soulami, also Acting Director General of Industry, noted that this project will help meet the growing demand for innovative and quality electrical solutions and strengthen supply chains across the EMEA region, emphasizing that this feat is attributable to the quality of the Moroccan industrial platform and our remarkable human capital which makes the difference in terms of competitiveness.

For his part, the general director of Tanger Med Zones, Ahmed Bennis, indicated that the vision of TE Connectivity management and its commitment to establishing its 4th industrial unit within the Tanger Med ecosystem illustrates in an exemplary manner the strengthening of partnership between these two entities.

In this regard, the official affirmed that Tanger Med Zones continues to play a key role in promoting the diversification of exports, increasing the attractiveness of foreign investments, and strengthening the creation of high value-added jobs.

“TE Connectivity has been operating in Tangier for more than ten years and we are satisfied with the availability of talents and the favorable investment climate put in place by the Moroccan government,” noted, for his part, Vish Ananthan, senior vice-president and general manager of TE Connectivity’s industrial business.

“With the addition of a fourth production facility in Tangier, we look forward to strengthening our presence, to improve service levels for our customers in the EMEA region,” he continued.

“For more than 10 years, we have continued to invest and strengthen our presence in Morocco,” assured Ayoub Daoudi, senior director and general manager of TE Connectivity North Africa, adding: “The opening of this fourth manufacturing plant demonstrates the confidence we have in Moroccan talents and the prospects that the country can offer us, which benefits from a strategic position and proximity to all of our clients, particularly the European and African markets.”

As for the director of the factory, Youssef Chentouf, he noted that this new factory, managed by a 100% Moroccan team, will make it possible to meet the growing demand for industrial solutions and strengthen supply chains in the region, specifying that the facility is expected to generate 1,000 additional jobs by mid-2024.

TE Connectivity has continued to invest and strengthen its presence in Morocco over the past ten years, starting with the establishment of a distribution center in 2012.
Since then, TE Connectivity has decided to expand its local operations into value-added manufacturing and engineering, such as product development.

Currently, TE Connectivity Morocco employs more than 3,500 people in a very large industrial campus with four manufacturing plants located in different activity zones: TFZ, Tanger Automotive City (TAC)1, and TAC2 as well as a distribution center in Tangier Med for its logistics operations.

From this new facility, TE Connectivity will provide innovative, high-performance technologies and solutions for control cabinets that serve industrial markets worldwide.
