The Minister of Education Caroline Désir (PS) communicated Thursday followingnoon to the union common front a new version of the evaluation mechanism that she wants for teachers in the future.
A source of tension for months between the government and the unions, the project notably opens up the possibility of dismissing, following a long procedure and a training program, teachers who still show obvious shortcomings.
Half a dozen changes
Asked Thursday evening, union representatives indicated that the changes made were regarding half a dozen in number, but without eliminating the possibility of dismissal at the end of the procedure, the main reason for the wrath of the unions for months.
“This reform includes a first component of support and development of skills that we fully support, and a second on the evaluation mechanism which can lead to dismissal“, recalls Adrien Rosman, of Setca-SEL.
