In order for her students to safely cross the Grand-Rue, in Payerne (VD), Laetitia* positioned herself on a pedestrian crossing, with her back turned to the traffic, on this day in October 2022. Then she waved for children aged 9 to 10 to cross.

It was then that Jules*, a Friborg motorist driving a Porsche Cayenne, arrived. Not having seen the crafts teacher, he hit her. Laetitia had been thrown 6.5 meters and lost consciousness, in front of her students in a state of shock. She was rescued by the inattentive driver, then by paramedics, and was taken to the CHUV in worrying condition. She notably suffered from severe brain trauma and was hospitalized for two and a half months.

Still driving, despite having your license revoked

Four days after the accident, Jules was still talked about. Despite having his license revoked after the collision, the sixty-year-old continued to drive his car. And had been caught in the act by the police.

The criminal aspect of the case has just been decided by criminal order. The Northern Vaud Public Prosecutor’s Office sentenced Jules to a 120-day fine of 30 francs suspended for 5 years and a fine of 720 francs. He also had to cover his victim’s 2,731 francs in lawyer fees.
