Warren High Grad Jocelyn Erb Ready For Cybersecurity Studies

Vincent, Ohio – Jocelyn Elizabeth Erb, an 18-year-old Warren High School graduate, is setting her sights on a future in cybersecurity after a stellar academic career.

erb, a long-time Vincent resident, has been a part of the Warren School District since preschool and is now preparing to take on the challenges of higher education with a clear focus on technology.

A Solid Academic Foundation

Erb’s academic journey has been marked by a deep involvement in school clubs and a proactive approach to college preparation.

As a member of the National Honor Society, President of the Spanish Club, and a participant in the Science Olympiad, erb has demonstrated both leadership and a passion for learning.

“I Just Started This Year And I Really Wish I Had Started Much Sooner,” Said Erb About Her Experience With The Science Olympiad, A Program Through The Ohio State University.

The Science Olympiad, a program facilitated by The Ohio State University, allows students in grades 6-12 to engage in interscholastic competitions, enhancing their scientific knowledge and skills.

Preparing for a Career in Cybersecurity

Erb has been concurrently enrolled in College Credit Plus (CCP) courses through washington State, effectively jump-starting her college education.

Her focus is now firmly set on pursuing a career in data technology and cybersecurity, with plans to continue her education in the fall.

“I’M Going To Washington State To Finish My Associate’s And Than I’M Not Exactly Sure Where I’M Going from There,” Said Erb. “I’Ll See if I Need More But I’M Going For My Associate’s In Cybersecurity.”

upward Bound: A Stepping Stone

Erb credits the Upward Bound program with opening doors to unique and enriching experiences.

From kayaking across the Ohio River to visiting Pittsburgh,the program has broadened her horizons and prepared her for the challenges of college life.

“Kayaking Across The Ohio River To Blennerhassett Island Was Crazy,” She Said. “We Went On A Day Trip To Pittsburgh Once And there Was An Incline And It Was Terrifying But I Can Say That I Did It.”

Awards and Recognition

Her dedication to academics has not gone unnoticed.

Erb is graduating summa cum laude with a Technology Honors Diploma and was honored with the Ultimate Warrior Award, a testament to her positive impact on the school community.

She also received a $1,500 scholarship from the Marietta Community Foundation through the Conlan prospect Awards.

Giving Back to the Community

Outside of academics, Erb is actively involved in her community.

She volunteers in a kindergarten class at warren Elementary and at the children’s ministry at barlow Vincent Church of Christ, demonstrating her commitment to service.

When she has free time, erb enjoys watching the show “Bluey” and engaging in needle-work and crafts.
