Tehran 23 April 2026: President Pezeshkian Calls for Dialogue, Warns Against Hypocrisy and Blockades in Iran Negotiations

President Masoud Pezeshkian asserted on 23 April 2026 that Iran has welcomed dialogue and agreement and continues to do so, stating that breach of commitments, blockade and threats are the main obstacles to genuine negotiations.

He said the world sees Iran’s endless hypocritical rhetoric and contradiction between claims and actions.

The remarks were made during a televised address from Tehran, where Pezeshkian reiterated Iran’s position that it remains open to diplomatic engagement despite ongoing international pressure over its nuclear programme.

No specific negotiations or agreements were named in the statement and no immediate response from foreign governments or international bodies was reported following the address.

Iran’s foreign ministry did not issue additional clarification on the comments by the close of business on 23 April 2026.
