Tekken 8 has finally finished revealing its characters main cast featuring the 32nd playable character, Reina, known as Purple Lightning, complete with a presentation trailer. The young woman’s mysterious aura is accentuated by her connection to the Mishima Polytechnic School and her interest in facing Jin Kazama. With Taido’s acrobatic skills, Reina appears to be central to the narrative of the new game, The Dark Awakens.
It is speculated that Reina may be the spiritual successor of Heihachi Mishima, whose disappearance occurred at the climax of Tekken 7. In that game, Kazuya emerged victorious, threatening the world with demonic powers and the G Corporation.
In addition to classic Mishima moves such as God Fist and Spinning Demon, Reina incorporates the Heaven’s Wrath stance, reminiscent of Heihachi. Her offensive attacks, especially when the opponent is close to the wall, highlight her as one of the most powerful characters in Tekken 8.
Reina’s relationship with Heihachi remains unclear, as neither Kazuya nor Jin seem to recognize her. Tekken 8 will feature 32 starting characters, focusing on the story of Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima, with the notable return of Jun Kazama, Jin’s mother. Classic characters such as Paul, Law, Nina, Yoshimitsu and King will be present, along with three newcomers: Azucena, Victor Chevalier and the enigmatic Reina.
Tekken 8 is scheduled for release on January 26th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC, promising an immersive experience for fans of the series.
