A video shows a plane landing in Tel Aviv as explosions flare up in the sky. The video, which was published on Saturday by the television station N12 on X, had previously been approved by the army leadership. This had imposed a news blackout until Friday evening.
The short recording shows how a plane flies through a sky shortly before touchdown that is illuminated by exploding defense missiles from the Iron Dome protective shield. Apparently Hamas had fired rockets from the Gaza Strip into Israel again. It is currently unknown whether the jet was in direct danger.
Since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas, several thousand rockets have been fired at Israel from the Gaza Strip. That’s why there were repeated alarms at Ben Gurion Airport, including during the visit of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in October. Because of the danger, several airlines stopped their flights to the Israeli metropolis. However, the Israeli airline El Al continues to operate. For almost 20 years, their machines have been equipped with their own defense system called Flight Guard, which deflects missiles with heat decoys (“flares”).
