Marie-Claude Simon woke up on July 2 in her apartment to see the floor of her living room and her kitchen covered with water, the drain having broken and her ceiling being pierced.

In eight years at this address, this is the third water damage it has suffered, but its owner is delaying making the necessary repairs to ensure that these events do not happen again.

“I find it inconceivable to let a tenant live in a situation like that,” says Ms. Simon. I’m just discouraged, that’s the only word I can say. I do not know what to do.”

“For the past two weeks, I’ve barely been able to sleep a wink because I wake up with a start and a panic wondering if there’s been any more water damage and if it’s leaking, this is not restful,” she adds.

The tenant describes the situation as being “as if she had no roof”, which makes it easy for rain to seep into her apartment.

The heavy rains that fell on Thursday caused him in particular new headaches.

“I was coming back from a dinner with friends where I had spent a wonderful evening,” she said. I arrive here and it had leaked everywhere, the bins were full, I called my sister in a panic and I was so discouraged, I bawled my life. I just felt like leaving it all there and sacking my camp.”

“I say to myself, what are they waiting for? That the ceiling smashes? ”, she continues.

The Quebec City resident also claims to have had to miss several days of work to ensure that the water infiltration did not cause further damage.

The owner of the accommodation did not respond to our interview requests.
