Tense crosses at the start of the impeachment process to the Supreme Court

The Frente de Todos managed to open the impeachment trial against the Supreme Court of Justice and drew the road map of the process that seeks to remove its four judges. It was at a meeting where the first sparks with Together for Changewhich set the tone for the debate that will dominate the coming months.

The crossings occurred in the Political Judgment Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, chaired by Carolina Gaillard from Entre Ríos. The ruling party hoped to open the debate smoothly, but could not avoid clashes with opposition deputies and the meeting lasted longer than expected.

The quorum was achieved with the 16 representatives of the Frente de Todos, although almost simultaneously the 14 deputies of Together for Change sat down in room 1 of the Annex. Then Alejandro “Topo” Rodríguez, from the Federal Interblock, joined.

The controversy broke out when the mendocino Omar De Marchi (PRO). “I refuse to naturalize that this commission is part of Argentina’s important agenda. This road leads us to the backyard of Argentina”, shot.

The first crosses in the impeachment commission

The legislator questioned “this staging offered to us today by the president, who is the main media promoter of this circus that they mount daily”. “We are going to undergo a procedure that will last two, three months, and while all this circus lasts, there are many Argentines who have a hard time,” he insisted.

The Mendoza camper Marisa Uceda came out at the intersection of De Marchi and criticized the blockade that Together for Change imposed on the rest of the agenda of the extraordinary sessions.

“They care about children and adolescents but refuse to create new universities. They are concerned about the production agenda and refuse to deal with the law for the promotion of technological innovation. They refuse an urgent agenda that means the pension debt plan ”, he complained.

The head of the official bench, Germán Martínez, tried to close the discussion: “We have not come to set up any circus. We come to this commission to propose a path provided for in the National Constitution, not to do anything else. We are in an extremely serious situation.”

“We don’t talk in small groups, that’s what Lago Escondido is for,” finished off the santafesino alluding to the trip of judges, officials and businessmen to Patagonia, known through a leaked chat.

The president of the Civic Coalition bloc, Juan Manuel López, picked up the gauntlet and denounced that “We are here because there are two rulings of the Court that bother the political powerthere is no other reason. Everything else is cotillion”.

Later pointed out without diplomacy against Kirchnerism: “Most of their leaders are corrupt or are authoritarianIn some cases it is both… We are here for those, because they do not tolerate the independence of the Judiciary”.

“They do not tolerate the independence of the Judiciary, for you the division of powers is a problem in the conception of democracy, because they are authoritarian,” López launched in one of the hottest moments of the debate.

«Top» Rodríguez to Tailhade: «I’m not afraid of you either”

From the Federal Interblock, “Topo” Rodríguez asserted that President Alberto Fernández “started his campaign” with the request for impeachment and clarified: “Those who think differently are not employees of the dark powers.”

And then he lashed out at Rodolfo Tailhade: “With all due respect, and I say it with affection, I don’t think I’d start by pointing out that those of us who think differently can be employees of dark powers…. I tell you Tailhade, that you said that I think that the political trial is not going to advance because I am afraid of a media outlet and that I do politics with fear. I am not afraid of any media and I’m not afraid of you either, Tailhade”.

Vanesa Siley to Mario Negri: “Machirulo”

The cross between the deputy Vanesa Siley (Front of All) and Mario Negri (UCR)ended with a kind of rudeness from the official legislator when they asked her to give the floor to her peer. “I do not grant the interruption for machirulo”he pointed.

The discussion occurred when Siley was making his presentation and a strong counterpoint with opposition deputies. “I speak how I want, Congressman Negri. Let me finish the idea and I say what I want, “said the deputy of the Frente de Todos at the time. “Deputy Negri, deputy Banfi, please let the use of the floor end without interruption,” the president of the Gaillard commission then requested.

It was there that the FDT legislator commented: “They tell you What you have to talk What you have to think, they tell you what is what you have to say. I am closely following the commission. I was respecting everyone and everyone”. Then, at the request of the president of the commission to give the floor to Negri, so that the deputy could express his idea, Siley concluded: “No, I do not grant the interruption for machirulo. I keep talking about what he was saying,” he described infobae.com.

The accusation against the judges of the Supreme Court

The dates of the debate will be those that were planned: on February 2 the authors of the projects will present, while on the 9th of the same month the research stage will openwhich will give rise to summonses and the search for evidence.

Opening the meeting, Gaillard read one by one the 14 files presented against judges of the Court and the complaints that support them.

I will guarantee that this commission conforms to the National Constitution, the regulations of the House and the commission. The political trial is not a criminal trial, as Deputies we do not have jurisdictional powers that Justice does have, ”explained the Entre Ríos deputy.

López, from the Civic Coalition, proposed not waiting to open the summary to listen to guests and advance these presentations for the moment of ruling on the admissibility of the process.

López: “The last grounds are manifestly inadmissible”,

“The latest causes that have entered from December to January are manifestly inadmissible,” López warned, who asked to listen to jurists, associations of magistrates and some civil society actors to determine if it is appropriate to open the investigation.

Nevertheless, Martínez rejected the proposal: “We have no problem in giving all the political debates that must be given on February 9 regarding admissibility, but for us the guests enter the stage of the opening of the summary ”.

The main project of the Frente de Todos, promoted by the national government and a group of governors and headed by Eduardo Valdés, accuses Horacio Rosatti, Carlos Rosenkrantz, Juan Carlos Maqueda and Ricardo Lorenzetti for poor performance in the exercise of their duties.

The axis of the accusation are the rulings on the Buenos Aires co-participation, the Council of the Magistracy and the calculation of the “two for one” of the sentences for crimes against humanity, in addition to alleged irregularities in the management of the social work of the Judiciary .
