2023-09-17 21:00:00

At TEPCO’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, the first release of treated water into the ocean ended on the 11th, and equipment inspections began on the 12th in preparation for the second release, which is scheduled for as early as the end of the month.

The equipment is currently stopped. The pumps that flow treated water from the tank and the pumps that pump seawater to be mixed with the treated water were stopped, and the tank that holds the water just before it is released was also emptied. In addition to checking the condition of the walls and bottom inside the water tank, check the appearance of the entire discharge equipment. We will also look back on our initial operational results.

For the first time, 7,788 tons of treated water was released from August 24th to September 11th, and there were no equipment problems during the release. In fiscal 2023, the plan is to release approximately 31,200 tons in four parts, with the second release also scheduled to be approximately 7,800 tons.
