Four people, including two policemen, were killed in a terrorist attack in Turkey. The Turkish Interior Minister stated that the attack took place hours before the cabinet meeting was to begin. The terrorists who arrived in the vehicle reached in front of the building where the Ministry of Interior is located and one of them blew himself up. Interior Minister Ali Yerilkaya also posted on X social media that the terrorist who was with him was killed by the security forces. He also stated that the fight will continue till the last terrorist is eliminated.
There was no official confirmation that any particular armed group was behind the attack. Home Minister returned after visiting the place. The media released footage of the bomb squad searching key sites and other government institutions in Turkey. Ankara’s public prosecutor announced that an investigation has been launched into the incident. Surveillance has been intensified in the area. The media was also banned.
The attack comes a year after the 2022 terrorist attack in Istanbul that killed six people and injured 81 others.
