Tesla increases supercharger prices again after only 1 month > teslamag.de

Tesla driving is getting more expensive. Not only did the company start gradually raising the prices for its electric cars in Europe last October, the same development began a year earlier when charging with its superchargers. Most recently in early March Tesla had increased the European supercharger prices, sometimes drastically, especially in the Netherlands, where recently any electric car can use the once exclusive pillars. And now the prices have risen again in Germany, among other places.

At least 2 cents higher Supercharger price

In Tesla’s early years, supercharging was basically free, but those days are long gone. The reckoning began with the Model 3 in Europe 2019. After all, electricity at Tesla was comparatively cheap, so that other providers, such as Ionity, were suspected of wanting to slow down the spread of electric cars with excessive prices. When the German joint venture in early 2020 Abolished the flat rate for the introduction and demanded 79 cents per kilowatt hour without a contracta kilowatt hour of supercharger electricity in Germany still cost 33 cents.

But even that is now just a nice memory, because in October 2020 Tesla also started increasing its supercharger prices in Europe. The steps differed in size depending on the country, but added up: Most recently in March, Tesla in Germany charged a further 3 cents, which already means an increase of almost 50 percent since the end of 2020. And now at least 2 cents per kilowatt hour have been added to German superchargers.

This was discovered by the observer @tesla_adri on Tuesday, after a Twitter user from Portugal had previously reported another increase. There, Tesla now apparently charges 56 cents per supercharger kilowatt hour. In Germany, the price rose to at least 50 cents per kilowatt hour, i.e. by another 2 cents. For some locations, @tesla_adri also found the new specification 51 cents or 52 cents. The prices at the German Tesla Superchargers are not completely uniform. Depending on the previous level, in some cases they could even have risen by 4 cents compared to March, another good 8 percent.

Tesla increase makes EnBW and Ionity more attractive

When you reach and sometimes exceed the 50 cents on the Supercharger, other offers become correspondingly more attractive. When it comes to the number of fast charging stations in Germany, Tesla is currently in a close race with Ionity and EnBW. at Ionity can be the price with a monthly subscription for 17.99 euros down to 35 cents per kilowatt hour. At EnBW, even without a basic fee of 55 cents at DC stations, you hardly pay more than at Tesla. With subscriptions starting at EUR 5.99 per month, electric car electricity costs even a little less at all charging stations in the EnBW network, with the exception of Ionity.
