The “Action” button is a remarkable tool
Tesla owners quickly began exploiting the all-new customizable “Action” button on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, which brings major innovation to the way you can interact with your electric vehicle. Since Apple released the first iPhone in 2007, the ring/silent switch has been a consistent feature across all iPhone models. However, with the arrival of the iPhone 15 Pro, Apple introduced a significant change: the customizable “Action” button – first seen appearing on the Apple Watch Ultra. This button can be programmed to perform various actions depending on user preferences.
Unlike its traditional uses such as switching to silent, activating focus mode, opening the camera app, starting a voice memo or activating the flashlight, Tesla owners discovered a new way to use it. In fact, they now use it as a key for their electric car. Simply press this new button to unlock their Tesla, open the trunk, partially open the windows, or even start the air conditioning, all without needing to turn on their phone screen or take it out of their pocket.
Shortcuts that make life easier
It is important to note that Teslas do not come with traditional physical remotes/keys, but are usually controlled via a mobile app or unlocked using a key card. iPhone owners already had the ability to create specific shortcuts for various actions related to their car, using the “Shortcuts” application. However, the iPhone 15 Pro’s new “Action” button now allows owners to trigger any of these shortcuts more conveniently and quicklywithout even having to worry about unlocking their iPhone or navigating to the home screen.

The options are varied. The button can be configured to start the car, activate the air conditioning, turn on the heated seats, activate the car’s sentinel mode, partially open the windows or even start and stop charging. To set this up, users can access their iPhone settings, go to the “Action Button” option, then “Shortcuts”, and select the Tesla shortcut that performs the action(s) of their choice .
