Ubisoft has launched a free playtest for March of Giants, an upcoming multiplayer online battle arena game where players command armies of foot soldiers alongside massive warriors in four-versus-four combat. The title is available to test on PC through Steam until October 18, 2026. The publisher accompanied the release with a cinematic trailer showing the large combat units and their troops.
Steam Pioneer Playtest Requirements and Regional Access
The playtest runs from October 7 through October 18, 2026, according to Ubisoft. The event opens on Steam for players located in North America and supported European countries, featuring dedicated servers for both regions. Ubisoft added localization for English, French, German, and Spanish during this phase. New players can request access by clicking a button on the Steam store page. Participants must also use an Ubisoft Connect account to play. Ubisoft noted that invitations might be paused periodically to scale up server infrastructure.
Gameplay Mechanics for Giants and Foot Soldiers
Matches pit two teams of four players against each other. Each participant plays as a giant who commands hundreds of soldiers on the battlefield. Players use these troops to explore the map, gather resources, and attack enemies. Giants can also deploy tactical structures such as trenches, cannon bunkers, and tanks. Ubisoft released a longer gameplay video alongside the cinematic trailer, detailing these mechanics with commentary from the development team.
Streaming Permissions and Returning Alpha Tester Access
Ubisoft confirmed that this playtest features no non-disclosure agreement or watermark, allowing players to record, stream, and share any game footage. Anyone who participated in the closed alpha in September 2025 receives automatic access to the current event without needing to request a new invite through Steam. Returning players simply download the game from their Steam library when the servers open.
Pioneer Program Rewards and Point Boosts
Players earn Pioneer Points by completing PvP matches during the test period. Winning a match awards 100 points, while a loss grants 50 points. Matches left before completion award zero points, and custom or PvE games do not count toward progress. Accumulating 1,000 points unlocks the Pioneer rank, which grants permanent access to a new giant named Pandemos when he arrives on October 12, a Pioneer medal displayed in matches, and a free Early Access pack. Players can also earn a twenty percent point boost by watching participating streamers on Twitch or claiming a code on the official Discord server.
