TF1 is accelerating the shift in its economic model from traditional linear television to on-demand television which is accessed via a Netflix or MyCanal type application. The Bouygues subsidiary will launch TF1+ on January 8, a richer version than its MyTF1 interface which is set to become marginal.

MyTF1 today brings in around 100 million euros in revenue per year, compared to just over 1.5 billion for the group’s channels. It is this balance that must change in the coming years, even if the group prefers not to say when TF1+ intends to pass the thresholds of a third or half of total revenue. “Given the erosion of the television medium, this is the right strategy to follow,” explains a professional in the sector. The whole question is how quickly digital revenues can climb, knowing that the Web giants are faced with precise targeting and pricing methods linked to the transformation into the act of purchase. »
