Thales Reorganizes Ground Transport Activities in Morocco: Focus on Mobility Solutions

Four years after taking over the activities of Gemalto Morocco and in particular its contracts in identity and biometrics in partnership with the Ministry of the Interior, the French Thales is reorganizing its activities in the kingdom.

Thales Holding Morocco, the head structure in the country of the French electronics group specializing in aerospace, defence, security and land transport, has just operated a split of its ground transport activities in favor of its subsidiary GTS Morocco.

The activity which has been the subject of a contribution of goodwill, includes services and engineering and equipment services for urban transformation for cities and territories and including mobility in light trains, trams and bus. In Morocco, where urban mobility issues are becoming increasingly acute, GTS Morocco, which inherits more than twenty employees, is promised a bright future, knowing that the Thales group is making it a development axis. for its worldwide activity which weighs some 17.6 billion euros (nearly 190 billion dirhams).

Remember that the Thales group makes Morocco a priority country in Africa. In early 2023, the group listed on Euronext Paris had signed an investment agreement with the Moroccan government for more than 350 million dirhams for its planned investments in the cybersecurity sector in Morocco and which consists of setting up a nearshore center to serve its international customers, which will create nearly 150 direct high value-added jobs in the country.
