We all know the super popular romantic comedy franchise Gotoubun no Hanayome (The Quintessential Quintuplets) that stands out, in addition to its history, for a spectacular cast of voices full of personalities that include Kana Hanazawa como Ichika Nakano, Ayana Taketatsu as Nino Nakano Miku Itou como Miku Nakano, Ayane Sakura como Yotsuba Nakano e Inori Minase como Itsuki Nakano.
But did you know that initially only one of them was all the quintuplets? This is perhaps a curiosity that the most seasoned fans already knew, but it is also likely that some do not. In 2017, two years before the premiere of the anime’s first season, the work was in its infancy and had just released its first compiled volume in Japan.
To celebrate this launch, the publisher Kodansha At the time, he released a promotional video putting voices to each of the five quintuplets. But he did not hire five voice actresses for the promotion, but only one: Ayane Sakurawho to date only plays Yotsuba Nakano. Could it be considered then as “the original quintuplet”? It’s quite curious, especially since we all know that Yotsuba ended up being the winner of the romantic contest. Had he been pre-destined ever since?
Sinopsis de Gotoubun no Hanayome
Fuutarou Uesugi is an excellent high school student, but he leads a difficult life. His aloof personality and lonely character have left him friendless, and his father is in debt, forcing his family to get ahead. One day during lunch break, Uesugi argues with a transfer student who has claimed “her seat” from her, causing them both to get upset. That same day, he is presented with a golden opportunity to pay off his family’s debt: a job as a tutor for the daughter of a wealthy family, with a salary five times higher than the market. He accepts the proposal, but is horrified to discover that the client, Itsuki Nakano, is the girl he’s clashed with earlier.
After unsuccessfully trying to win Itsuki’s favor again, Uesugi discovers that his problems do not end there: Itsuki is actually a quintuple, so, in addition to her, he must be the guardian of his sisters -Miku, Yotsuba, Nino. and Ichika- who, despite the real threat of failing, want nothing to do with a tutor. However, his family’s livelihood is at stake, so Uesugi goes ahead, steadfast in his resolve to rid the sisters of his aversion to study and lead them successfully to graduation.
