Thousands of ball guests danced in stylish traditional costumes at the Styrian Ball 2024 in the Vienna Hofburg. Highlights: midnight polonaise, beer tapping, wine route, “folkshilfe” and lots of celebrities.

Vienna (OTS) – It was a glamorous ball evening with Styrian joie de vivre: last night around 3,000 ball guests danced in their dirndls and traditional costumes, in evening dresses and suits at the cheerful Styrian Ball in the Vienna Hofburg until the early hours of the morning. Andreas Zakostelsky, chairman of the Styrian Association in Vienna and ball organizer: “The Styrian Ball 2024 was a very special event for us as a club. For the first time after Corona, an unforgettable ball night took place right in the heart of Vienna, with our ball guests, friends from Styria and more than 300 actors who created the best Styrian atmosphere.” The highlight of the ball was the performance of the Pop- Trios “folkshilfe” at midnight.

While the facade of the Hofburg shone in Styrian green, the entrance was illuminated in the colors of the Ausseerland. Because the Steirerball 2024 was all about the four Ausseerland-Salzkammergut communities: Altaussee, Bad Aussee, Bad Mitterndorf and Grundlsee.
The ball guests were welcomed by the members of the club’s board of directors before they were greeted with bread and salt and a warm “Good luck” on the decorated festive staircase by the daffodil highnesses.

Ceremonial opening
The Klangvereinigung Wien accompanied the ceremonial entry of the club’s board of directors, the guests of honor as well as the dance groups, flag cadets from the federal states as well as the daffodil princess Celin Pichler, miners, Schnalzer and Flinserl from the host region Ausseerland-Salzkammergut. At the opening, the Young Women’s and Young Men’s Committee danced a polonaise under the direction of dance teacher Claudia Eichler. After the greetings from club chairman Zakostelsky, the State Ballet’s performance was a special highlight. Afterwards, the mayor of Altaussee, Gerald Loitzl, welcomed the ball guests. It continued with a musical performance by Johannes Lafer and the Dachstein song performed by the Salinenmusikkapelle and the presenter duo, ex-Miss Austria Larissa Robitschko and Oliver Zeisberger.

As a long-time regular guest at the Styrian Ball, but for the first time as Styrian governor, Christopher Drexler spoke about the strong connection between Vienna and Styria: “I am extremely pleased that so many Styrians from the Green March and also from Vienna are coming to the ball with me came to the federal capital to celebrate a ball night full of white and green joie de vivre. Politics at the Styrian Ball
Among the guests of the Styrian Association in Vienna were once again numerous personalities from politics and business: Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler and Leonore Gewessler, Federal Minister for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology, attended the Styrian Ball for the second time. The NEOS chairwoman Beate Meinl-Reisinger visited the atmospheric Styrian Ball for the first time and City Councilor for Health Peter Hacker was at the Styrian Ball on behalf of Mayor Michael Ludwig. Hermann Schützenhöfer, retired Styrian governor, has been a regular guest for many years. The former tourism minister Elisabeth Köstinger was also at the federal state ball in the Hofburg. Mayor Franz Frosch (Bad Aussee), Franz Steinegger (Grundlsee) and Mayor Veronika Grill (Bad Mitterndorf) from this year’s guest region Ausseerland-Salzkammergut were at the Steirerball.
Peter Koren, deputy general secretary of the industrial association, Josef Herk, president of the Styrian Chamber of Commerce and his vice president Gabriele Lechner as well as his deputy Andreas Herz were also among the Styrian Ball guests. Karl-Heinz Dernoscheg, director of the Styrian Chamber of Commerce and deputy general secretary of the WKO, Herwig Höllinger and Johann Moser, a retired member of parliament, were once again at the Styrian Ball.
In addition to the SPÖ National Councilor Josef “Beppo” Muchitsch, who played with his band “Beppo’s Dance Band” in the Knights’ Hall, numerous other Styrian MPs from all factions were also there at the cheerful Styrian Ball 2024. Gerhard Koch, director of ORF Steiermark, also created a great atmosphere in the Privy Council Room this year with his band “Beat Club Graz”.

Economy at the Steirerball
The Steirerball 2024 will once again be a good place for networking. High-ranking political representatives met TOP business representatives in the Hofburg: RLB Steiermark boss Martin Schaller, GRAWE general director Klaus Scheitegel and his deputy Gernot Reiter, GRAWE board director Paul Swoboda as well as Erik Venningdorf, member of the board of GRAWE Vermögensverwaltung and Reinhard Florey , CEO of OMV Aktiengesellschaft. Franz Titschenbacher, chairman of the Raiffeisen Association of Styria, and Sonja Steßl, deputy general director of Wiener Städtische Versicherung, were also among the guests.
The director of Caritas of the Graz-Seckau Diocese, Nora Tödtling-Musenbuchler, ex-minister and GKB managing director Gerald Klug and GKB general director Franz Weintögl also came to the Styrian federal state ball. Culture and media scene at the Steirerball

Bands such as the Klangvereinigung Wien, the Graz City Orchestra, the Big Band Bad Gleichenberg, the Beat Club Graz, the Streetview Dixie Club, Beppo’s Dance Band and the cover band EGON7 once again provided the tried and tested mix of Styrian cheerfulness and classic Viennese elegance. The Styrian Ball guests also enjoyed a fine selection of regional folk music groups, such as the “Ausseer Bradlmusi”, the “AltBadSeer Musi”, the “Kreuzsaiten Musi”, the “D Röthelstoana”, the “Ausseerland Bläs” and the “Seidlzupf-Musi” .

Folkshilfe um Mitternacht
A cool top act awaits the Styrian Ball guests at midnight: “The successful and likeable pop trio Folkshilfe around Florian Ritt will make our Panthersaal shake with their hits,” says Zakostelsky: “After the midnight performance, there will be under the guidance of the spirited dance teacher Claudia Eichler the popular bat quadrille can be danced energetically in the usual way.”

Culinary highlight of the Vienna ball season

Styrian delicacies once again ensured the maximum Styrian feeling in the Vienna Hofburg this year: char from the “Fischererei Ausseerland”, the popular “sausages” from the Diechtl butcher shop, the freshly prepared pumpkin seed oil egg dish as well as exclusive Styrian wines – including Sauvignon wines – were served -World champion Florian Lieleg. This year too, the replica Styrian Wine Route, the Styrian Buschenschank, the Gösser Bar and the cocktail bar could not be missed. A new beverage at the Steirerball 2024 were the exquisite cider creations by cider pope Martin Mausser.

This year the proceeds from the raffle will benefit Caritas.
