The waters of the Seine and the wrath of the Vatican were two of the themes of the first weekend of the Paris Olympics. Organizers decided to abandon the triathlon swim training because the world federation deemed the river’s water quality not good enough. Robert Michlmayr, sports director of the Austrian Triathlon Association, gave the all-clear ahead of Tuesday’s men’s race. “This is to be expected. Every time it rains heavily, the water quality is very poor.”
