Once again, the concert weekend will be preceded by a multi-day “artist-in-residence” program. This is intended to promote exchange between artists and could lead to new musical collaborations. So that the artists don’t just keep to themselves, there are parallel workshops and events that are open to the public.
“We have created a festival that celebrates the encounter, collaboration and exchange between musicians and the audience,” emphasized Giovanna Fartacek, herself part of the Salzburg electro-pop duo Mynth and chairwoman of the association behind “10 Volt”. The aim is to create a positive pole in a time marked by war and crises.
Green Event
At the same time, the organizers attach great importance to conducting the festival as a “green event” – without single-use waste, with a focus on travel by bus and train, but above all by exclusively using existing resources. Instead of Dixie toilets on the meadow, the toilets on Perner Island are used, and the workshops take place in empty shops in Hallein’s old town, among other places.
In the days before the actual festival, from May 6th to 9th, the artists in the residency program will not only be provided with accommodation in Hallein’s old town, but also session rooms, studios and food. The idea behind it: The participants should concentrate on their creative work and develop new projects – without economic pressure.
Music and culture away from big cities
Hallein was chosen as the location because it is important to the team to convey music and culture outside of big cities. And because you want to set an example for the creative use of open spaces and their temporary use. This is reflected in the variety of locations. The festival stage, the Ziegelstadel, Wiespach Castle and the Alte Schmiede serve as venues.
