The Barca Residency Academy, associated with Barcelona, announced the tragically death of the young player, Carter Payne, at the age of twenty, following he was hit by a car in the city of Statesboro in the Republic of Georgia, and its driver fled.
“We are devastated by the tragic loss of one of our students, Carter Pine. He was an extraordinary brother, teammate and student-athlete who will be greatly missed. We send our love and support to his family and friends at this very difficult time.”
According to local media, the soccer player was riding an electric scooter near the campus of Georgia Shutter University when he was hit by an SUV, the driver of which escaped, so he was flown to Memorial Health Hospital, but he soon died.
