This Saturday of cloudy skies and at times rainy gave a frame in the Obelisk to the awaited finals of the Tango World Cup 2023, organized by the Ministry of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires, and the 60 classified couples showed their art, which ended with the consecration of world champions of Tango Escenario de Bruna Estellita and Julián Sánchez, while in Tango Pista the best were Wait for Quiroga y Johnny Carvajal.

Natacha Poberaj, artistic director of the event, created a proposal that summons both established masters and new generations. The closing show featured the participation of three internationally renowned figures: Amelita Baltar, José Colángelo and Raúl Lavié and the 120 World Cup competitors they joined in a choreography directed by Carlos Rivarola, a historic tango dancer and choreographer.

At the end, the prizes were awarded to the winners of each category and this year included the “Best Senior Couple Award” in the Tango de Pista category, for couples over 55 years of age.

This edition of Tango BA Mundial brought together more than 650 couples from all over the world, representing countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Italy, Chile, Japan, Russia, Costa Rica, Ukraine, Colombia, India, Germany, the United States and many more. The diversity and passion for tango are evident in the international representation.

In this edition, the Tango World Cup celebrated 20 years since its creation and Pepe Colángelo dazzled again with his virtuosity, and his incomparable art, which still mixes the golden years of Tango with current times.

Argentina was represented by dancers from 40 cities in 18 provinces of the country: City of Buenos Aires, Province of Buenos Aires, Santa Fe, Río Negro, Neuquén, Misiones, Mendoza, Chaco, La Pampa, Salta, Santiago del Estero, Chubut, Tierra of fire. Tucumán, San Luis, Córdoba, Entre Ríos, La Rioja, Formosa, Santa Cruz and Jujuy.
