The 56-year-old had 206 stones removed from his kidney in less than an hour

Hyderabad: A 56-year-old man from Telangana has been released after six months in agony. During the one-hour operation, 206 kidney stones were removed.

Doctors at Gleneagles Global Hospital in Hyderabad removed the kidney stones through a keyhole operation. Veeramalla Ramalakshmaiah, a native of Nalgonda, underwent the surgery.

Veeramalla Ramalakshmi first saw a doctor in the area following severe pain. Although he got temporary relief from the pain after taking the prescribed medicine, it bothered him daily. Chronic pain also affected work.

He was later taken to Gleneagles Global Hospital for examination. Initial scanning revealed the presence of numerous kidney stones on the left side. This was confirmed by CT scanning, said Dr. Poola Naveen Kumar, who was involved in the operation.

He added that all the stones were removed during an hour-long keyhole surgery.

The high temperature in summer increases dehydration among people, which can lead to the formation of kidney stones, hospital doctors added. They recommend that people drink more water and, if possible, karikin water to retain water.
