Opening film

The opening film was also confirmed on January 12th: François Ozon will premiere his new work, the Fassbinder adaptation “Peter von Kant”, and will also take part in the international competition. Denis Menochet, Isabelle Adjani and Hanna Schygulla play in his new film. And with Lydia Nsiahs “vs”, a found footage short film, there is already a first Austrian firm starter, which is shown in the experimental section “Forum Expanded”. The whole program is to be published next Wednesday (January 19th).

Before the pandemic, more than 300,000 tickets were regularly sold for the Berlinale film screenings. According to a festival spokeswoman, it is still being checked whether a booster vaccination will be accepted as a substitute for a test in the current edition. In the previous year, journalists watched films purely online, which is not planned this time.
