The newly appointed Savia Salud inspector, Edwin Carlos Rodríguez, did not attend a debate scheduled in the Antioquia Assembly on Thursday to discuss the future of that EPS, which has already been intervened two weeks by order of the Health Superintendency.
In a space in which that official was expected to give an assessment of how that organization was received and explain the plans of the National Government to distance it from the ghost of the liquidation, his absence was seen as rude and raised a blistering among several benches.
Shortly before starting the discussion, the Secretary of the Assembly read a letter sent by Rodríguez around 4:00 in the afternoon last Wednesday in which he stated that he had other obligations that prevented him from attending the session.
It should be noted that the Antioquia Health Secretary, Ligia Amparo Torres Acevedo, and the Medellín Health Secretary, Mayelis de la Rosa Madrid, were also invited to the space, who despite attending, did not make any intervention due to their absence. of Rodriguez.
“It generates a lot of suspicion that the inspector does not come, what is he afraid of? To political control?”, expressed the deputy of the conservative bench Jorge Correa Betancur, who even withdrew from the session later in protest.
For his part, deputy Hernán Darío Torres, from the liberal bench, also described Rodríguez’s absence as disrespectful. “There is no legal distinction between the summons and the invitation. The law must be respected and the corporation ”, he expressed, stating that even if Rodríguez was an agent appointed by the Nation, said condition did not exempt him from attending to the calls of the Assembly and more taking into account the relevance of the issue.
After several minutes of discussion, several deputies approved adjourning the session until the intervening agent does not go to the corporation.
