The execution of the accused in the case of strangling his ex-girlfriend and son was carried out in the prison in Huntsville. The execution is the fifth and last this year in Texas.
Stephen Barbee (55) strangled and suffocated his wife Lisa Underwood (34) and son Jason (7) in their Fort Worth home in February 2005.
Barbie didn’t want to be known as Underwood with her ex-girlfriend and son, who was seven months pregnant. Prosecutors contended that this was the reason they entered their home and killed them.
The two went missing on the day of Underwood’s baby shower. The two were later found buried in a shallow grave in Dunton County. Barbie confessed to the crime.
He declared his faith in God and looked at his family members who were standing outside before the execution began. The poison was injected at 7.35 pm and death was confirmed after 26 minutes. After long legal battles, the Supreme Court also rejected the demand to avoid the death penalty and the execution was carried out.
