The Amadou Tidiane Ba hospital in Sédhiou officially inaugurated by the Head of State


Sédhiou, March 1 (APS) – The Head of State, Macky Sall, on Wednesday presided over the official inauguration ceremony of the new regional hospital of Sédhiou, which according to him is part of a “new generation” of hospital structures which expand Senegal’s health map and raise its technical platform.

Named after the former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Amadou Tidiane Ba, this establishment delivered last September required an investment of 20 billion CFA francs.

It has 18 services, including “a latest generation diagnostic support service”, underlined the President of the Republic, praising at length the qualities of the sponsor of the new Sédhiou hospital, called to God in September 2017.

According to Macky Sall, the construction of this level 2 public health establishment is part of an “investment plan for a resilient and sustainable health and social action system (…), covering all of the national territory”.

In addition to the package of services it offers, this hospital has a care system outside the hospital, relating to medical evacuations assisted by resuscitation, which should promote geographical accessibility and the availability of offers. quality care, according to health authorities.

“This is the whole meaning of the other health structures under construction such as the national oncology center of Diamniodio, the polyclinic of the main hospital in Dakar and the new hospitals of Saint-Louis, Tivaouane, Ourossogui, Mbour and soon from Thiès (…)”, supported Macky Sall.

The Head of State urged “in particular the management of the hospital and the staff to ensure the safeguarding of this common good”, so as to ensure its sustainability and the quality of the care it offers.

He also asked the nursing staff to “continue to guarantee a humanized reception for patients and optimal management of emergencies”.

The president of the board of directors (PCA) of the new hospital, Annette Seck Ndiaye, assured of her desire to “watch with the greatest attention to the maintenance of the equipment” of this health establishment.

Ms. Ndiaye, also president of the Sédhiou departmental council, believes that “the quality of service will only be guaranteed if maintenance is provided within the required timeframe”.

She spoke of the new hospital as “a jewel perfectly inserted into the urban landscape” and which gives “a new face to its immediate surroundings thanks to its splendour, brilliance and grandeur”.

It constitutes, according to her, “a real opportunity to improve the supply of care due to its design grouping together activities in a single site and by using the most innovative techniques to improve the working conditions of the staff (… )”.
