The American takes control of the Rocket Mortgage Classic after the third round.
Fowler birdied nine against a single bogey to go -20 after three rounds. He has a one-shot lead over Canadian Adam Hadwin, who made the card of the day 63 at the Detroit Golf Club. After a bogey on the par 4 of the 10, Fowler ended his round by birdying six of his last eight holes, which allowed him to take the advantage over Hadwin.
Canadian Taylor Pendrith, who shared the lead after 36 holes, fell to third with his 67 card on Saturday, two shots off the lead. Pendrith’s second-round co-point guard Taylor Moore did even worse, registering a 69 that dropped him into a tie for sixth place at -16.
Peter Kuest (65 on Saturday) and England’s Aaron Rai (66) are tied for fourth, while China’s Carl Yuan (64), Dylan Wu (66), Collin Morikawa (67) and Justin Lower (67) have joins Moore in sixth position.
