The annual Conservative Conference becomes the Trump show

The CPAC has been seen as a springboard for new Republican hopes. This year, however, the Conservative gathering was all about Donald Trump. Other possible candidates for the presidency did not come or became extras.

To feel the pulse of the Republican Party and its grass roots, there has never been a better opportunity than a visit to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). This year, however, the conference in a Washington hotel degenerated into a rather one-sided stage for Donald Trump. Before his appearance on Saturday, he was introduced with the words: “Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the next President of the United States.” Even before he began to speak, the enthusiastic audience chanted “USA, USA, USA”.
