It is worth mentioning that Infiniti owns the largest network of electric car charging stations, which includes more than 90 stations and has more than 300 charging points located in all major travel routes in Cairo, Alexandria, Hurghada, Ismailia, Ain Sukhna and many others.

Hesham El-Gamal, CEO of Infiniti Solar, said that the company started its work three years ago in establishing electric car charging stations in Egypt.

Al-Jamal added in an interview with Al-Arabiya that the infrastructure that serves electric cars is a key factor in encouraging buyers to acquire an electric car.

He explained that 70% of electric power chargers around the world are inside homes, but 30% can be charged on highways or within cities.

El-Gamal stated that the company currently owns more than 100 charging stations located on the highways that reach Hurghada, Sharm El-Sheikh and Ain Sukhna, next to the stations within the cities.

The CEO stated that the company hopes to expand in charging stations to reach 200 stations this year, and then to 300 stations next year, located in petrol stations, residential complexes and commercial malls.

El-Gamal revealed that “Infinity” is the only company in Egypt that provides electric vehicle charging services, pointing out that the company obtained its first license last April to establish electric power stations.

El-Gamal indicated that there are two companies seeking to obtain licenses to operate in the same sector, thus increasing competition within the market.

He pointed out that the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity issued a tariff that determines the value of charging electric cars in Egypt, revealing that the tariff determines the value of alternating and continuous current.

He pointed out that there are AC chargers that charge the car slowly in a period of up to 4 hours, and the tariff for this service is 189 piasters per kilowatt.

As for DC chargers, they charge the car in 15 minutes, and the majority of these chargers are located on the highways, and the cost of a single kilowatt is about 3.75 pounds.

He continued, “The cost of charging for electric cars is 60% lower than the cost of fuel for conventional gasoline cars.”

Al-Jamal believes that the value of the new tariff is very attractive to the citizen, expecting that citizens will tend to acquire electric cars with the increase in the prices of traditional fuel.
