The Arizona Cardinals are in a permanent crisis. It’s been pretty much all downhill since they lost the NFC Championship Game in 2015.
They only qualified for the playoffs once in the past seven seasons, but failed in the wildcard round at the Los Angeles Rams in the 2021 season. They only managed four victories last season.
But from 2024 the big reversal could happen. The reason is the NFL Draft next year. The Cardinals have 11 draft picks for 2024, including two first-round picks, one second-round pick, and three third-round picks.
The Cardinals earned the Houston Texans’ first-round pick for 2024 in the 2023 NFL Draft because the Texans moved from number 12 to Cardinals’ number three pick to pick pass rusher Will Anderson Jr.
Cardinals and Texans are the big underdogs of 2023
This could pay off in the coming year. According to most leading bookmakers, the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans are the biggest underdogs to win the Super Bowl in 2023.
In other words, these two teams are expected to be the worst performers this season.
The selection for the 2024 draft is large
If true, the Cardinals would have the number one pick and the number two pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Since quarterback Kyler Murray has already been tied to the team long-term until 2028, they would not have to draft a passer, but could simply pick the best available players in the draft.

It is unlikely that he will be fit at the start of the season. In the course of the 2023 season, however, he should be operational again.
The bright future of the Cardinals doesn’t begin until a year later anyway.
